Naizle Pendeta

Sepanjang hidupku telah dihabiskan
segala masa dan usaha
kerana kamu

Sepanjang jalanan ku telah luahkan
segala kata dan kenangan
bersama kamu

Engkau siapa?
dipentas samaran sang Pendeta
asyik berpura

Kau sebenarnya
sekuntum debunga Wisteria
indah nan jelita
namun racun yang berbisa

Chorus:
Aku keliru sejuta lagu
kerna kekasihku
Ia bukanlah namamu

Aku mengaku belakangi mu
dialah jiwaku
disinggahsana Pendeta itu

Setinggi anganku dia diciptakan
sayang fikirlah oh apakah
pengertianku

Setinggi rinduku dibawa bayangan
sayang kemana fenomena
ketulusanmu

how to write a good resume

Writing a cover letter is an essential part of a job application. Employers seldom deliberately ask for a cover letter when advertising their position but do not take things too lightly here. After all, that piece of cover letter may be the deciding factor during the final short listing of candidates.

Here are some guides in writing a job winning cover letter:

1. Write a concise, straight to the point cover letter

Write a concise and compact cover letter that includes all the essential information in that piece of document. A cover letter is not an essay; it is a selling document that will trigger interest employer to go to the next step, which is reading your resume. Do not overdo when elaborating phrases and sentences and more importantly, do not just blindly copy the same old information you have put up in your resume. Do not go beyond a one-page cover letter.

2. Address the position correctly

Write your intention by addressing the exact position you’re applying for in your cover letter. “I’m writing to apply for the position of Marketing Manager as advertised recently” sounds a lot better than “I’m writing to apply for any job vacancy”. Its shows you did your homework and you are not just shooting blank. You’re aiming for the bull’s eye.

3. Make a good closure

Indicate your great interest with the position and that you look forward for a mutually beneficial discussion with the employer. You’re selling yourself here and it is particularly important for you to get the employer to conclude that you ‘may be just the right person for the job’. Finish off your cover letter with “yours sincerely” and do not forget the important part – enclose your resume together!

4. Proofread

Turn on the spelling and grammar tools and make sure every inch of the cover letter is covered to avoid any mistakes that would rank you among the silly bunch of people. Spelling tools may not be 100% accurate, get friends and colleagues to go through the cover letter and suggest any improvement. Let them fill the employer’s shoe and see if they get the ‘feel’ when skimming through your cover letter.

How to Write a Good Resume

October 18th, 2009 — Resume

When searching for a new job, your resume is the most powerful tool you have to attract employer interest. Your resume is your introduction to your prospective employer and gives you an opportunity to either make a great first impression or fall flat on your face. Writing a perfectly good resume is therefore inevitable.

The importance of having a solid resume cannot be overstated. In most cases, this 1-2 page document is the first and only look your employer will get of you before he or she picks who is going to be interviewed, so it is extremely important to make the sale with your resume.

The first step in writing an effective resume is writing your cover letter. Your cover letter is basically your way of introducing yourself to your prospective employer and explaining what you have to offer to the organization. Your cover letter should be tailored specifically to each employer you’re applying to and mention exactly how your skills and experience can meet their needs.

When writing your resume, you should be as complete and concise as possible. Your resume should be no longer than two pages, but should contain as much relevant information as possible about your skills and experience.

Your resume should include your name, address, contact information, education, work experience and references. Presentation of this information is important and there are a variety of Web sites with good models to pattern the design of your resume after. Check out Monster.com for some excellent examples of good resumes.

When listing your work experience on your resume, you’ll probably have to list why you left some jobs. Avoid griping about work conditions or money when talking about your reasons for leaving, as it may give your prospective employer the impression that you have a bad attitude or poor work ethic. Instead say that you decided to pursue growth opportunities or wanted a new challenge.

Also remember to contact the folks you list as references on your resume. It’s common courtesy, and it ensures that the references you’re listing actually will put in a good word for you.

When writing and completing your resume, be sure to run it through a spelling and grammar checking program. Also have a friend read it to make sure that the program didn’t miss or misinterpret anything. Having spelling and grammar errors on your resume basically equates to walking into your job interview with your pants down, so please take the time to proofread. You know you have done a pretty good job in writing a resume when interviews come knocking after sending a few resumes out.

How to Self Assess Your Resume

Below is a guide that you can use to self-assess your resume. For each of the pointer, you have the opportunity to evaluate your resume by giving marks for each section. In this work you will be needing a pen or pencil, and a scrap paper to note down your marks. Apart from assessing your resume, the guide is also useful for you to immediately making the necessary changes to your resume based on the guidelines given.

1. Grammar and Spelling

Are there some obvious spelling and grammar mistakes detected across your resume? Spelling mistakes in your resume can cost you job interview as you’ll be seen as a clumsy person who does not seem to care to get things done right. You can run the spelling and grammar detector in your Word document. You can also get someone to take a look at your resume and proof read it. Sometimes, we missed to realize the mistakes because the spellings are very much close to the correct one. For example;

Maintaining (not maintaning)
Transcribing (not trascribing)
Liaising (not liasing)
And so on.

Now, on the scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 the perfect score), how do you rate your resume in terms of Grammar and Spelling?

2. Objective and Profile Summary

Refrain yourself from writing too short and meaningless objective or profile summary such as

“A highly motivated engineer looking to work with an established organization”.

Think of a way to summarize your professional or educational experience in a few sentences to give the prospective employer a grasp of your overall career development & expertise. For example, here’s a professional summary of a Production Specialist for a manufacturing firm which should give you a clearer picture:

“A highly experienced production specialist with more than 10 years of experience in production covering preventive maintenance, yield control & improvement, R&D, failure analysis and machines troubleshooting. Wide experience with product and technology transfers as well as machines and testers set up & calibration in the production floor.“

Do you see the difference?

Now, on the scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 the perfect score), how do you rate your resume in terms of Objective and Profile Summary?

3. Use of Verbs and Tenses

Check the consistency of tenses you’re using across your resume, especially on your job description part. For a better picture, which is the style you’re using? Is it

a. Assist team members (most common – it is suggested you use this)
b. To assist team members
c. Assisting team members

Are you using mixed tenses at different places and parts in your resume? If yes, then it’s time for a change. Just pick one tense, and use it all across. Also, are you using repeated and duplicated verbs to explain your roles and responsibilities? For example, perhaps running out of ideas, many candidates choose to use the verb involve in their job descriptions. For example;

Involve in credit assessment of new businesses, credit review of business and risk profiling for consumer landing.

Involve in periodical review of current portfolios and initiate proactive measures.

Involve in marketing and business development in the Cyberjaya area.

The repeated use of verbs not only degrade your credibility, it also makes your resume sounds and looks boring. It translates you as being someone with a lack of creativity as well. Here, try to replace those duplicated verbs with a better use of ‘power verbs’. Instead of repeatedly using involve, try to use other varieties of verbs such as administer, oversee, manage, organize, perform, produce, supervise, facilitate, improve and so on.

Now, on the scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 the perfect score), how do you rate your resume in terms of

Use of Verbs and Tenses?

4. Achievements

Are your major achievements clearly indicated in your resume? Achievements can be put on together with the job responsibilities (where the roles are rephrased to underline your achievements). The achievement list can also be separated with the job responsibilities as long as you can keep the presentation neat.

Do not miss to list down major achievements in present and past employments. For instance, have you been involved in any major business engagement project? Was it successfully implemented within the budgeted time frame? Does it contribute in producing some high volume of revenues to your organization?

Achievements are best described in numbers and figures in terms of percentage, how fast, amount of expenses saved or sales generated, number of headcounts involved and so on. You may not know all the figures, but you can always use a sensible estimate. Some simple examples:

“Participate in a successful, major cost-saving IT transition project that in July 2005 which save the company’s annual IT expenses by 20%.”

“Secured a major contracting agreement with Telekom Malaysia in 2004 for broadband infrastructure set up across peninsular Malaysia, contributing to total revenue of RM1.2 millions.”

Now, on the scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 the perfect score), how do you rate your resume in terms of Achievements?

5. Resume Presentation and Layout

Is your resume influxed with many number of those annoying text boxes? This is especially true when you copy and paste your online resume from your online job portal account into Word document. Not only it is not user friendly, the alignment will also come out in all sort of forms. Don’t overdo it.

If you put up your photo in the resume, does it project a professional image, or does it make you look like you’re joining the Scorpion rock band?

Now, on the scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 the perfect score), how do you rate your resume in terms of Resume Presentation and Layout?

Your marks and overall evaluation.

40 and above: Excellent work on the resume. But never stop short of finding ways to continuously improve it. Well done.

35 – 39: Above average. Your resume is a decent effort and ranks at the better half of the candidates in the similar field. Keep it up, and continue to work to perfect your resume.

30-34: Average. Nothing much to be proud of and with this resume you will be facing challenges in your quest to find the next job.

29 and below: Poor. It is highly suggested you work to improve your resume before applying for jobs. Otherwise you will find that, in many of the cases, you will end up in disappointment of not getting the job interview.

how to write resume executive

There is this saying – there is no second first impression. And the same saying goes to your resume. The prospective employer may either be captivated by your uncanny ability to form impressive early phrases, or otherwise decided that your resume belongs to the trash can.

So, to create this first impression, you will need to pay a critical attention the obvious portion – the top half of your resume – the part where your Executive Summary or Profile Summary can be the deciding factor. Make no mistake. Ignore this advice and watch your resume dumped into the bin in less than 30 seconds.

Some people prefer to write an Objective rather than Executive Summary. This is fine too, as long as you know the differences between the two.

Keywords of your strengths, skills and achievements.

List down some key words of your strengths, skills and achievements. This part is perhaps quite straight forward. In fact, you may have listed down these elements somewhere around your resume, possibly down there at the second half of your resume. Give them a little bit more attention. Some examples that you might have written down could be – result-oriented, dynamic, young, entrepreneurial, highly trained, enthusiastic, outgoing, energetic, motivated and so on. This group, as standalone words, does not really mean much but when you combined them with the following elements, it will work wonder.

Highlight your successes.

Skimming through your successes may (and will) give you that extra edge which indicated that you may just be the right person who can deliver the goods. No need to put too much information here; just some short list of your most outstanding achievements that would intrigued the employer to dig more about you.

And may I remind you that your achievements need to address the results through facts and figures. For example, ‘contributing to a significant cost saving through…’ is not as real as ‘contributing to a 35% cost saving through…’. Well, you get the picture.

Blend in some powerful adjectives.

Spice up your phrases by blending in some powerful adjectives to describe yourself and your achievements. Words like effective, distinguished, proactive, optimized, efficient, instrumental, reputable, proven, exceptional and so on would definitely bring up some smiles on the recruiter. Combining the powerful adjectives, the keywords of your skills and your achievements above, and voila, you’re on the right track to filling that desired job.

how to market ur resume

Creating your resume is one thing. Marketing and promoting it is a different thing together. A good resume that sits on your table without being marketed properly will just sit there indefinitely without anyone knowing the existence of you. After all, if you can make a burger that tastes better than Big Mac and Double Whopper combined but do not know the way around to sell your burger, no one can appreciate the good taste of it.

Here are 5 ways how you can market your resume and get employers to notice your talent:

1. Research companies that would need someone of your credibility

Make some research and due diligence to find companies which may need your skills. If you have been in your job for a number of years, by now you can already identify and pinpoint some of them (if not a lot). Pick up that phone and start ringing these companies to check out if they are hiring. Talk to the human resources personnel in the company and find a way how you can submit your resume to the right person.

Some companies may tell you that they are not recruiting but convince them that receiving a resume from a job seeker is not a sin and not a bad thing to do. Follow up with a few more calls to make sure that they did receive your resume and acknowledge you that your resume is being considered. Lather, rinse and repeat the process.

2. Visit career fairs

Check out the calendar and book some time to visit the upcoming career fair in town. Spend some good hours during your visit to the career fair to talk to the employers and assess the current job market. Don’t forget the important part – bring copies (a lot!) of your resume and hand it over to the potential employers. If you get lucky, some of the employers would conduct an interview upon receiving your resume and this can be a sign of good things to come.

Sometimes, some of the recruitment companies or headhunters give free consultation or organize a ‘resume clinic’ during the career fair where you can learn more about improving and marketing your resume. Consider this an added bonus in your quest to promote your resume to a new level.

3. Leverage the power of social media

Online recruitment websites, which have systematically replaced the traditional advertising are the preferred platform of applying for jobs now. Yet slowly and surely, the social network and social media are taking over and bringing things to a new degree of excitement. Today, it is no longer strange to hear people looking for jobs through LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and other social networks. In fact, employers have now began to appreciate the power of the social media and use it as a leverage in their recruitment exercise.

Don’t fall behind. Jump onto the bandwagon and join the revolution.

4. Participate in regular outdoor activities

Participate in activities not related to your employment such as sports, volunteer events, toastmasters circuits, picnics and other leisure activities that allow you to meet people you have never met before. Strike up conversation with strangers, get to know each other and identify if these people belong to the industry you are in or in the field you are interested to join.

Some of them may be people who are actively looking for talents. They may not be in your field but more often than not, they know one or two people relevant to your area. Now, he or she can be your key contact point. Exchange resumes between new acquaintances and help each other whenever you can. Network, network and network.

5. Hook up with recruitment agencies

Don’t only look at recruitment consultants as people who are obliged to find you a job. Make them part of your network and friends who you can hook up on occasional basis to check out new development in the job market and get consultation. Turn professional relationship into casual ones and once you get to know each other better, your chance to have your resume and your credibility marketed gets better.

interview lagi punya cite

You know, being an interviewer will give you an opportunity to make a long list of criteria of job interview candidates that annoy you. Sometimes it is just incredible to see candidates spending hours of time polishing up their resume and blindly leaving the fate of the interview hanging nowhere. Here’re only a few of them:

1. Arrive late.

You can give all sort of excuses for all you care when you’re late like you’re stuck in an unexpected traffic (good excuse when the interview is right down in the cities like KL), changing the bike tyres, still finding suitable parking areas and so on. Yes, some of the excuses are legitimate. Screw them. You should estimate your time well, and your estimate should give buffer to you so that you’ll arrive early. Not late. Not exactly on time. You should arrive earlier. Give it 30 minutes or so. Remember, there will be few other steps you will need to complete before you will be shown to the interview room e.g. filling up application forms, sit for aptitude test, assessment and so on. Therefore, it is imperative you arrive early. Be a religious time keeper.

2. Answer phone calls during interview.

I can never forgive those who answer calls during interview. So do other interviewers. Even worse, a few of them talk a fashionably lengthy discussion while the interviewer is right in front of them. Arguably, these type of person does not only have ethics problem, but their attitude in their everyday life is also questionable. Luckily, my remedy for this issue is quite simple; I just kicked them out of the interview room. I will say to them, “Now that I can see you don’t respect me as an interviewer, I do not see you will respect me as your supervisor, team mate and colleague either. Just berambus from here.” Period.

3. Come unprepared, documents not complete.

Some job interview candidates think that they are too ‘terer’ that they do not need a minute to prepare for the interview. They come with no knowledge about the company they’re applying too. No courtesy to bring a completed set of required documents and their most updated resume. Some of them even bring a thumb drive and ask the interviewer to upload it in the hard disk. Make an effort to know a little bit about the company and the position you’re applying for. It will save your blushes.

4. Dress sloppy.

Does the expression “there’s no second chance for first impression” sound familiar? Well, the phrase says it all. Just because you’re applying for a specialized position that doesn’t require you to wear nice kemeja on every day basis like a Jave Architect or a 3G Infrastructure Specialist, that does not mean you can skip the essence of proper ethics and dressing. Put something nice; tie and kemeja for men (by the way I will always advise my candidates to dress full blazer during interview) and blouse/cardigans for the ladies.

Remember, keep those in mind, and keep your name away from interviewer’s hate list.

tips for resume n go to interview

Don't worry—sending a résumé into the Black Hole (AKA lobbing a résumé into the HR pipeline) is almost always a requirement these days, even if you have a more promising entrée to the organization. You'd need to have that résumé on file in order to get an interview, so you haven't wasted any effort. Still, there are lots of steps you can still take to increase the probability of getting an interview for the job. Here are six of my favorites:

• Start with LinkedIn to see whether one of your first-degree connections is connected to a relevant person (someone who works in the department where there's an opening, a peer in another department, or best of all, the hiring manager) in the hiring department. If you do have a two- or three-step relationship to that inside person, ask your first-degree connection to make an introduction for you. (You can do this by clicking on the "Get Introduced Through a Connection" link on your "target" person's profile page.)

• Next, I'd e-mail a group of your friends and colleagues (using bcc: all) to ask whether anyone has a lead on a person inside the employer (and your target department, if possible) and might be able to make an introduction for you. Not everyone checks his or her LinkedIn in-box (and not everyone belongs to LinkedIn) so sending an e-mail blast is a great backup step.

• If you can make contact with a person inside the company, your aim is a five-minute phone call to learn more about the organization and the open position. You won't ask your brand-new acquaintance to pass along your résumé (that's forward and presumptuous, since the person doesn't even know you) but you'll ask smart questions about the role. With luck, your new contact will offer to help or, at least, to keep you posted as résumés are reviewed and interviews are scheduled.

• Check the employer's Web site and use the research site ZoomInfo to see if you can locate the hiring manager's name. And, of course, you should Google the hiring manager, but in a really smart way: Search the company name plus the hiring manager's most likely title, like this: Director Marketing ABC Products.

If the hiring manager in your sights has made any speeches, published any articles, given any interviews or been in the news for any reason lately, you may pull up his or her name this way as well as find out something a little more about him or her. Be sure to search using Google News, not just Google (GOOG).

• If you find the hiring manager's name, send a hard copy of your résumé and a customized cover letter to him or her directly. I suggest old-fashioned U.S. mail, as an uninvited e-mail message in someone's in-box isn't typically viewed as welcome and is also easily overlooked.

It's easy to get the organization's snail-mail address from its Web site; all you need is the hiring manager's name, title, and that street address to send off a résumé/cover letter packet directly to the decision-maker.

• As you write your customized cover letter for the presumed hiring manager, be sure to focus more on the organization and its needs than on your own background and skills. (Of course, you should do this any time you are corresponding or speaking with someone about a job.) Superior to the standard "I saw your opening for a Marketing Research Manager" is "Congratulations on the launch of your Tastylocks edible hair gel line. That should be a sensation at HairExpo this fall!"

There is an element of luck in getting an interview, but you can do more than toss a résumé into the hopper and wait for a phone call. You can work assiduously to find contacts who can put in a good word for you, make introductions for you, and fill you in on the issues that are top-of-mind for the employer you're targeting. When you spot a job you know you'd love and would thrive at, don't hesitate to call on your network to help make it happen. That's what your network is there for!

Sepanjang hidupku telah dihabiskan
segala masa dan usaha
kerana kamu

Sepanjang jalanan ku telah luahkan
segala kata dan kenangan
bersama kamu

Engkau siapa?
dipentas samaran sang Pendeta
asyik berpura

Kau sebenarnya
sekuntum debunga Wisteria
indah nan jelita
namun racun yang berbisa

Chorus:
Aku keliru sejuta lagu
kerna kekasihku
Ia bukanlah namamu

Aku mengaku belakangi mu
dialah jiwaku
disinggahsana Pendeta itu

Setinggi anganku dia diciptakan
sayang fikirlah oh apakah
pengertianku

Setinggi rinduku dibawa bayangan
sayang kemana fenomena

jika ia sebaliknya, kau berikan la petunjuk kepada ku, kau kuatkan la Iman ku,
sesungguh nya, jodoh pertemuan itu adalah di bawah kekuasaan mu.

how to write a good resume

Posted by ~cNastygurlz~ at 9:54 PM 0 comments

Posted by ~cNastygurlz~ at 9:45 PM 0 comments
Below is a guide that you can use to self-assess your resume. For each of the pointer, you have the opportunity to evaluate your resume by giving marks for each section. In this work you will be needing a pen or pencil, and a scrap paper to note down your marks. Apart from assessing your resume, the guide is also useful for you to immediately making the necessary changes to your resume based on the guidelines given.

1. Grammar and Spelling

Are there some obvious spelling and grammar mistakes detected across your resume? Spelling mistakes in your resume can cost you job interview as you’ll be seen as a clumsy person who does not seem to care to get things done right. You can run the spelling and grammar detector in your Word document. You can also get someone to take a look at your resume and proof read it. Sometimes, we missed to realize the mistakes because the spellings are very much close to the correct one. For example;

Are you using mixed tenses at different places and parts in your resume? If yes, then it’s time for a change. Just pick one tense, and use it all across. Also, are you using repeated and duplicated verbs to explain your roles and responsibilities? For example, perhaps running out of ideas, many candidates choose to use the verb involve in their job descriptions. For example;

Posted by ~cNastygurlz~ at 9:44 PM 0 comments

Posted by ~cNastygurlz~ at 9:40 PM 0 comments

Posted by ~cNastygurlz~ at 9:35 PM 0 comments
